I first started writing properly when I was in my early 20’s focusing on younger children’s books.
Then I wanted to learn how to write scripts, thinking that would be easier. I took script writing classes and ended up writing an episode of an Irish language drama series called Seacht.
I eventually came back to novel writing after winning a place on the prestigous Faber and Faber academy course in Dublin. That was in 2012.
In January 2014 I started writing the first draft of The Dancer and had it finished in less than four weeks. It then took a long hard 18 months to get it to where it is now. Hopefully the hard work will have been worth it.
